Betsy Wintringer, Director of Marketing

wintringerBetsy Wintringer believes in an integrated approach to marketing, combining both print and online strategies, including social media, with grassroots efforts to get key messages out. During her 10 years at AMC, Betsy has been a driving force behind a variety of marketing initiatives—many on behalf of the company's clients and, mostly recently, for the company itself. Her background includes marketing positions in both the for-profit and not-for-profit business sectors, making her an ideal fit for her position as director of marketing at AMC, a for-profit company that manages not-for-profit organizations.

Betsy is responsible for corporate communications and marketing for the company. She led AMC through a major rebranding in 2005 and twice oversaw the redesign and complete update of AMC's website. Her efforts include traditional marketing activities like getting AMC's name out in regular communications to clients, in industry publications, and in online venues such as LinkedIn and Facebook. But, Betsy also looks internally, leveraging AMC's 180 staff members as "Brand Ambassadors," helping to promote the company in a less direct way. After several years of existence, the rotating Brand Ambassadors group has hosted all-staff events, implemented a recognition program, initiated an all-staff educational enrichment program, and wrote the company's elevator speech. This high level of staff engagement in the company seems to be working—in 2011, AMC was named one of the Best Places to Work in Illinois for the second year in a row.

Betsy recently led a company task force to develop social networking best practices for AMC clients. The task force's recommendations include a series of documents on various social media topics—including everything from LinkedIn to proprietary tools such as Higher Logic. The group's aim is to help AMC staff take clients from whatever place they're at in regard to social media to where they want to be.

Betsy shares her expertise in the broader association management community. She's actively involved in Association Forum of Chicagoland and ASAE, and, for the AMC Institute, where she serves as the co-chair of the Market Expansion Task Force.
