Shapiro AwardGlenview, IL—The Association Forum of Chicagoland has named Mark Engle, DM, FASAE, principal of Association Management Center (AMC) and CEO of the Metal Construction Association (MCA), as recipient of this year's Samuel B. Shapiro Award for CEO Excellence. This is the highest honor awarded by the Forum. Engle received his award at the Association Forum Honors Gala on June 16 at Chicago's Navy Pier. Engle joins the ranks of an elite group of individuals who have earned this prestigious award for their outstanding service and accomplishments in association/non-profit management. "I am honored and grateful to Association Forum and to our community. This award is shared with 180 remarkable people at AMC," states Engle. "Association management is all about teamwork and that makes each day rewarding. Meeting challenges together and creating opportunities is hard but fun work." Engle credits this spirit of teamwork to the success client MCA has experienced. As CEO of MCA, Engle led his team in executing a strategic plan that increased the organization's member companies' market share of commercial construction materials by more than 20%, and resulted in the association's highest membership in history. Engle recently received his doctorate of management from Case Western University. His 4-year thesis and research project focused on how boards can use their limited time to make successful and significant decisions.
