Joan Kram, MBA BSN
Kram holds a BSN from Loyola University and an MBA with a focus on leadership and change management from DePaul University. These seemingly disparate degrees actually reflect a very strategic and well-planned career path. With more than 30 years of experience in healthcare, Joan's career has spanned from the delivery of patient care and directing teams in clinical research, to serving as the Director of Hospice Services for Midwest Palliative & Hospice Carecenter. However, it's in association management that Joan is most fulfilled. "I love working with people who are at the top of their game. They have a passion for what they do," Joan says. "What's most amazing is that these board members are such willing volunteers—they really care about advancing the mission of their associations." Joan proudly supports AMC's mission of helping organizations achieve their vision by fostering leadership, promoting teamwork, and mentoring others to meet their goals. She readily boasts about the great team she works with at AMC and points to their diverse skills and willingness to take risks as key attributes that enable them to deliver quantifiable results for clients. "We're always open to discovering new and improved ways to do things, but we make sure our decisions are backed by data and in line with our strategic plan." In today's fast-paced world, staying focused isn't always easy. Joan finds that connecting to the earth helps her clear her mind and keeps her grounded. She likes to spend her vacations in natural settings and also finds simple ways to connect to the earth at home and work by gardening or "going green" whenever possible. "When I connect to the earth in any way, I feel more grounded and my mind unclutters. This allows me to face my workday and all its challenges with a calmness and focus that makes me a better team player and a just a more productive person overall." |

Joan Kram's love of science, passion for helping people, and clear head for business are a winning combination when it comes to association management. As executive director of two of AMC's healthcare clients, she draws upon all of these qualities to provide the strategic direction these organizations need to achieve their visions.
