AMC Executives Earn Certified Association Executive Credential

Glenview, IL—Association Management Center (AMC) is pleased to announce that Catherine Underwood, MBA, and Dionne Wilson have earned the certified association executive (CAE) credential. Underwood and Wilson join seven other AMC colleagues who have earned this distinguished honor. The CAE is the highest professional credential in the association industry, and less than five percent of all association professionals have earned the distinction. Underwood has been at AMC since 1999. She currently serves as the executive director to the American Pain Society (APS), National Association of Neonatal Nurses (NANN), and National Association of Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (NANNP). When asked about the significance of earning her CAE, Underwood commented, "Having spent most of my professional career in hospital administration, achieving this credential in my 'second life' validates my expertise as an association management professional and underscores my commitment to the field. I love what I do!"

Wilson has been at AMC since 2002. She currently serves as the associate executive director for NANNP and NANN and is the senior manager for APS. Wilson shared this thought on receiving her CAE: "I believe ASAE [American Society of Association Executives] put it best—achieving the CAE is a 'new level of professional growth.' As a young professional I'm especially proud to have earned the designation. You can accomplish this milestone at any point in your career if you have a commitment to excellence, love what you do, and have the support of those around you. I'm so grateful to be a part of such a wonderful profession."

AMC Principal Jeff Engle remarked, "We are proud of Cathy and Dionne. We know that their passion, vision, and professionalism make a positive impact every day. Earning the CAE designation is a significant accomplishment that affirms their knowledge of the profession."

The CAE program is developed and administered by the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE). To earn the CAE, an applicant must demonstrate experience in not-for-profit organization management, complete a minimum of 75 hours of specialized professional development, pass a stringent exam in association management, and pledge to uphold a code of ethics. Approximately 3,300 association professionals currently hold the CAE credential, which was first awarded in 1961.
